Convenience Module (1 x 2 inches)

What it does:

bulletOpens the trunk if the 'Roof Down' switch is pressed.
bulletUnlocks the passenger door if the 'Roof Up' switch is pressed for 3 seconds.*
bulletThese functions work anytime the ignition is on and the parking brake is off (down).  If the brake is up, the 'Roof" switch works normally to control the convertible top.
bulletAllows the trunk and passenger door unlock functions and the power windows and the convertible top to be operated for approximately 90 seconds after the ignition is turned off.  After 90 seconds the ignition must be turned 'on' again for them to work.
* small caveat - only works if the driver's door is unlocked

Please note this is not a plug-and-play installation.  The connectors would cost more than the module I make, so you'll have to do some cut and splice with your car's wiring, but I think it's worth it for the results.  See the Wiring Diagram to get a feel for the wiring required.  Or download the whole installation guide here (1MB pdf format, right-click and choose 'save as')

If you think you're interested in this mod, read the installation instructions before you buy.  If you are not comfortable with cutting and splicing wires on your car, find someone knowledgeable to help or don't do it.

Skills and tools required to install:

bulletRemove interior trim panels
bulletRun wires from the console to under the dash
bulletSplice wires using crimp connectors
or
bulletSoldering & heat-shrink wires will make a much neater install.

Installation Procedure:

Quick overview: The Convenience Module is installed in the center console, inside the right 'tunnel' that connects the console to the space under the radio.  This tunnel is where you'll run 4 wires up to the dash area, and the module fits inside the tunnel on the right side of the shifter.  A ground wire is connected to the parking brake mounting bolt, and 6 connections are made to the HAZARD, ROOF, and PARKING BRAKE switch wires.
