What's a "larger" door speaker? Usually it's a 6 1/2" or 6 3/4" speaker that is NOT listed as fitting the S2000, but when used with our spacer rings it WILL fit. Using these spacer rings lets you install larger, higher-quality speakers that have a cut-out or depth requirement that retail stores aren't comfortable recommending for the S2000. As long as your speakers don't go over 5.7" (145mm) cut-out dimension and no more than 3 1/8" top-mount depth they will fit when used with these spacers. I checked speaker specs on Crutchfield for all the 6 3/4" speakers listed for less than $1000 and I didn't see any that would not work with these spacer rings. Moving up to a 6 3/4" driver usually brings a larger cone (Sd) and more cone travel (Xmax), both of which will benefit bass response.
These spacers are CNC-machined in our shop from high-density urethane, which has many benefits over wood-based products. In addition to a 66% weight savings vs MDF, this material is dimensionally stable, dampens vibrations better, and is impervious to water. And because it's not as hard as MDF you can mount your speakers without the need to pre-drill pilot holes when using the self-starting deep-thread screws that we supply. If you need more than 4 screws for each speaker we suggest you purchase an extra pack of 8 screws from us, as not all "wood screws" will hold well in this material.
Do not buy if your speaker cut-out is less than 5.2"; buy the "typical" spacers instead. This product cannot be returned if it has been installed (has holes or any other alterations).
